Rajneesh Kumar, the son of BDC member Mani Devi, filed a police complaint on June 6 alleging that political rivals kidnapped his mother. According to the complaint, Mani Devi was forcibly taken after her oath ceremony in what the family describes as a politically motivated attack. The incident has intensified the already heated rivalry between local BJP and Congress supporters.In his complaint filed at the Anni police station, Kumar stated that certain leaders had spent days pressuring his mother to vote for a BJP-backed candidate. He alleged that as she was returning home after the ceremony, a group blocked her path and threatened to throw her into the Sutlej River if she resisted.

The attackers then allegedly forced Mani Devi into a vehicle and sped away.A formal complaint has been registered against more than 15 individuals, including Pinku Thakur, Amar Thakur, Vivek Thakur and several local village heads.Kullu Superintendent of Police (SP) Madan Lal Kaushal confirmed that a case has been registered under various sections. “The police have traced Mani Devi, and further investigations are underway,” SP Kaushal said. “A special team of officials is conducting a thorough probe, examining both scientific and ground-level evidence, as well as witness statements,” he said.The Anni Block Development Council consists of 15 members, meaning a majority requires eight votes. Both the BJP and Congress claim to have eight members in their favour.
