Bairwa directed the departments concerned to map zones prone to forest fires and prepare a detailed inventory of fire stations, water sources, vehicles and manpower to enable a swift response. He emphasised the need for a strong coordination mechanism among the Forest Department, fire services, SDRF, Home Guards, panchayats and the District Disaster Management Authority. He said that an integrated response system would be key to minimising damage.
He directed the officials concerned to identify sensitive population groups, ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply and make arrangements for cooling spaces and medical support. The Jal Shakti Department was specifically instructed to identify areas facing water scarcity and put in place contingency plans, including tanker services and strengthened distribution networks.
The Deputy Commissioner also called for improved communication systems and directed the departments concerned to establish a robust two-way information sharing mechanism between the District Emergency Operation Centre and the field units for real-time updates and quick decision-making.
Measures such as adjusting school timings, conducting mock drills in vulnerable areas and launching awareness campaigns on heat safety were also discussed at the meeting. The departments were instructed to keep their control rooms functional round the clock and share updated contact details with the District Emergency Operation Centre.
Bairwa said that community participation was vital and urged panchayats, volunteers and disaster response groups to actively contribute to preparedness and response efforts. He reiterated that public safety during the summer season was the top priority of the administration and directed all departments to remain vigilant and fully prepared for any eventuality.
