Anthropic has partnered with Tata Consultancy Services to accelerate enterprise AI adoption. TCS will create a dedicated business unit, provide Claude AI to over 50,000 employees, and develop industry-specific solutions for finance, healthcare, telecom, and aviation.

Anthropic, the US-based artificial intelligence company behind the Claude AI assistant, has announced a strategic partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of India's largest IT services firms. The collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of Anthropic's AI models across enterprises, particularly in key sectors such as financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, and aviation.

Key Points

  • TCS will create a dedicated business unit focused on deploying Anthropic's AI models for its customers.
  • TCS gains early access to new model releases and will provide Claude AI to its employee base of over 50,000 people.
  • The companies will develop tailored AI solutions for financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, and aviation.
  • Diligenta, TCS's UK-based life and pensions business, plans to use Claude for customer service and process automation.
  • TCS iON will offer training and certification programs on Anthropic's models.

Under the partnership, TCS will establish a specialized business unit dedicated to deploying Anthropic's AI models for its enterprise clients. This unit will leverage early access to new model releases to build deep expertise and develop customized solutions. Additionally, TCS will roll out Anthropic's Claude AI assistant to its workforce of over 50,000 employees, enabling them to leverage AI for enhanced productivity.

The collaboration extends beyond enterprise deployments to several TCS businesses and platforms. Diligenta, TCS's UK-based life and pensions business serving over 22 million customers, plans to integrate Claude for customer service automation and process optimization. Meanwhile, TCS iON, the company's digital learning platform, will offer training and certification programs on Anthropic's models, helping upskill professionals in AI technologies.

TCS will also contribute capabilities to Anthropic's Claude Code ecosystem, including tools for claims adjudication and lending advisory. This move is part of Anthropic's broader strategy to expand its footprint in India, which the company has identified as its second-largest market. Over the past year, Anthropic has opened an office in India, hired for leadership roles, and strengthened ties with major IT services firms.

The partnership comes at a time when India's $315-billion IT services industry faces uncertainty due to the rise of AI. Shares of TCS and Infosys have fallen about 34% and 31% respectively this year. By teaming up with TCS, Anthropic follows a trend of frontier AI companies securing enterprise distribution channels through Indian IT giants. Earlier this year, Anthropic partnered with Infosys, while OpenAI collaborated with Infosys and HCLTech for similar purposes.
