The officials of various departments attended the meeting, which continued for several hours till the evening. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Public Works Department to immediately improve the condition of the road leading to the convocation venue and the helipad. He reviewed security and traffic management plans and instructed the departments concerned to maintain close coordination with the university administration.
He also ordered the removal of stones and debris from open grounds near the venue, proper water supply arrangements, uninterrupted power supply and sanitation measures. The departments were told to complete all assigned works within the stipulated timeframe. The Deputy Commissioner made it clear that no negligence in preparations would be tolerated, considering the importance of the President’s visit.
Sources said that arrangements were being made at multiple levels and the district administration, police and university officials were working together. Security agencies were also expected to visit the campus in the coming days to finalise protocols.
The President’s expected presence at the convocation has generated excitement in the region, as it will be a landmark occasion for the university and a matter of pride for Himachal Pradesh.
