The arrests followed further investigation into a drug trafficking racket busted by the district police earlier this month. Kangra Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Ratan stated that a detailed analysis of technical evidence, financial transactions and disclosures from previously arrested accused helped establish critical forward linkages and identify the three individuals involved in supply and financial operations.To apprehend the suspects, the Kangra police formed three separate CIA teams and dispatched them to Punjab. In a coordinated operation on June 5, the teams conducted simultaneous raids, arresting Gourav Sahota of Kapurthala, Honey of SBS Nagar, and Honey Kumar of Amritsar from various locations across Punjab and Chandigarh.SP Ratan noted that Gourav Sahota and Honey Kumar both have prior records, with existing cases registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Investigations revealed that the proceeds from drug sales were primarily routed through Gourav Sahota and Honey. The police are currently examining bank accounts and financial transactions to trace the drug money and identify other beneficiaries.Meanwhile, Honey Kumar emerged as a major supplier of heroin (chitta) to Abhishek Sahota, playing a crucial role in maintaining the syndicate’s supply chain.With these latest arrests, the total number of apprehended syndicate members has risen to 19, including the kingpin.
