To achieve this goal, the university has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Enoable IP Consultancy Private Limited, a leading Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) consultancy firm based in Noida.
Under the agreement, the company will provide professional guidance and technical support to faculty members, researchers and students in patent searching, drafting, filing, prosecution and commercialisation of innovations.
In a significant incentive for researchers, the university has also decided to bear the expenses associated with patent filing by its faculty members. The move is aimed at encouraging patent generation and protecting intellectual assets developed within the institution.
VC Prof Mahavir Singh said intellectual property rights, particularly patents, had emerged as key indicators of research excellence, innovation capacity and institutional quality.
“Patent generation plays a vital role in improving university rankings, accreditation outcomes, technology transfer, industry collaborations and societal impact. The agreement is expected to strengthen HPU’s intellectual property portfolio while fostering a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship and translational research among faculty members, scholars and students,” he said.
The VC said the university had undertaken several initiatives in recent years to strengthen its research ecosystem by promoting quality research, facilitating funded projects, encouraging patent generation and supporting innovation-driven programmes. Emphasising the importance of intellectual property, he said research and innovation were central pillars of academic excellence and that patent generation was essential for translating research outcomes into societal and economic benefits.
“The partnership with Enoable will provide researchers with the expertise and support needed to protect, manage and commercialise their inventions effectively, thereby contributing to national development and the knowledge economy,” he added.
