Maha Nati to spread anti-drug message at Shimla Summer Festival

The event will be held on June 9 from 3 pm to 5 pm near the Police Assistance Booth at The Ridge. Around 250 Anganwadi workers and helpers from various Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) blocks of Shimla district are expected to participate.

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said the initiative aims to encourage mothers to play a proactive role in building a drug-free society.

He said the programme would focus on raising awareness against substance abuse, strengthening family values and promoting a collective commitment towards ensuring a safe future for children.

“The Maha Nati will convey the message that every mother is committed to raising her voice against violence and drug abuse and to ensuring a safe environment for women and children,” he said.

The event is expected to witness participation from women, self-help groups, Anganwadi workers, students and representatives of various social organisations.

As part of the awareness campaign, jointly organised by the district administration and the Department of Women and Child Development, information will also be disseminated about the services available through the Child Helpline (1098) and the Women Helpline (181).

The district administration has appealed to residents to actively participate in the programme and contribute towards the creation of a safe, inclusive and drug-free society.
