Lakhanpal claimed the state government had been indecisive regarding the Panchayati Raj Institution elections, attempting to postpone them under various pretexts. He asserted that the announced election results clearly mirror the public’s resentment toward the Congress government’s performance.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Rajinder Rana pointed out that the Congress party managed to win only one out of the 19 Zila Parishad (ZP) seats. This outcome, he said, demonstrates a continuous erosion of public trust in the ruling party.
Rana asserted that, given the strong support garnered in the polls, the BJP was poised to secure an absolute majority for the posts of chairperson and vice-chairperson in both the ZPs and Block Development Committees. He added that the Chief Minister should accept moral responsibility for the election results and reconsider remaining in office.
Referring to the municipal corporation elections, Rana noted that the BJP triumphed in three out of the four municipal corporations in the state, while the Congress failed to secure its expected support.
BJP district president Rakesh Thakur, MLA Ashish Sharma and former MLA Vijay Agnihotri were also present on the occasion.
