The event featured two flagship competitions—the Amanjit and Bhumika Memorial English Debate and the RK Thakur Memorial Heritage Quiz—and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing leading schools from different states.
The English debate highlighted participants’ oratory skills, critical thinking and persuasive abilities as they deliberated on contemporary issues with confidence and conviction.
In the Amanjit and Bhumika Memorial English Debate, Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, emerged as the overall winner. Among the individual awardees, Anika Sharma was adjudged Best Speaker for the motion, while Eshita received the award for Best Speaker against the motion. Ritvik Tagore of Vanasthali Public School was declared Best Interjector, while Amegya Sharma won the Best Turncoat Speaker award.
The RK Thakur Memorial Heritage Quiz tested participants’ knowledge of India’s rich cultural, historical and civilisational heritage. The competition generated considerable excitement among participants and the audience alike, underlining the importance of preserving and celebrating the nation’s legacy.
Army Public School, Ambala, emerged victorious in the quiz competition, while DAV Public School, New Shimla, secured the runners-up position.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, alumni, teachers and students. The guest of honour, Indu Thakur, wife of the late RK Thakur, distributed prizes among the winners and participants. Organisers said her presence added special significance to the occasion and served as a tribute to the contributions of the former vice-principal, in whose memory the heritage quiz was held.
Principal Vivek Kumar Tiwari highlighted the importance of literary and intellectual activities in the overall development of students. He said debates, quizzes and similar platforms help nurture critical thinking, communication skills, confidence and teamwork, while also fostering a deeper understanding of the country’s cultural heritage.
The conclave concluded with a prize distribution ceremony in which winners and participants were felicitated for their achievements.
