Luxury supercar convoy set to roll into Kangra hills

The convoy comprises two Porsche 992 GT4s (2025), a Porsche 992 Cabriolet, a Porsche 991.2, a BMW M2 Competition (2026) and two Lamborghini Huracán 640s. The high-performance vehicles, known for their low ground clearance, are expected to navigate the mountainous roads of Kangra, providing a unique test of the region’s road infrastructure.

Speaking to The Tribune, The Supercar Route founder Zain Nadeem Rais said the initiative seeks to create a community that brings together performance cars, heritage, landscapes and luxury travel.

“We aim to build a community that combines performance motoring with culture, heritage and tourism. The initiative is also an inspiration for young people, as it is driven by individuals who have achieved success through dedication and hard work. If these premium vehicles can comfortably reach the Kangra hills, it sends a powerful message to travellers across the world,” he said.

The convoy is scheduled to arrive in Amritsar on May 31 before entering Himachal. On June 2, participants will visit the historic Kangra Fort and the Maharaja Sansar Chand Museum before proceeding to Dharamkot above McLeodganj.

Organisers believe a successful drive through the challenging terrain could help position Kangra as a destination capable of attracting premium automobile tourism and international travellers.

On June 3, the group is scheduled to have an audience with the 14th Dalai Lama, followed by visits to the Norbulingka Institute and the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. An evening reception will be hosted by the Kangra royal family at Cloud’s End Villa in Dharamsala.

The following day, the convoy will travel to Bir Billing via Palampur, passing through the region’s renowned tea gardens and one of the world’s most popular paragliding destinations.

Another team member, Rohit Samuel, expressed concern over a few poorly maintained road stretches but said such curated luxury travel experiences could significantly contribute to premium tourism, state branding, youth engagement and global visibility for Himachal.
