Deputy Commissioner Gandharva Rathore said Sujanpur development block recorded the highest turnout in the district at 78.02 per cent. Women accounted for 55.10 per cent of the votes cast in the block, compared to 44.90 per cent by men.
In Bhoranj block, polling stood at 75 per cent, with women contributing 54.31 per cent of the votes and men 45.69 per cent. Bijhri block registered a turnout of 74.78 per cent, including 53.78 per cent women voters and 46.21 per cent men voters.
Hamirpur development block recorded 76.24 per cent polling, with women accounting for 53.86 per cent of the votes cast and men 46.14 per cent. In Bamsan block, turnout reached 76.73 per cent, including 55.15 per cent women voters and 44.85 per cent men voters.
Nadaun block registered the highest overall polling at 78.29 per cent, with women accounting for 53.26 per cent of the votes cast and men 46.74 per cent.
Polling in the final phase was conducted in eight gram panchayats of Sujanpur block, 14 in Bhoranj, 15 in Bijhri, 13 in Hamirpur, eight in Bamsan and 20 in Nadaun block.
Meanwhile, Bilaspur district recorded an overall voter turnout of 76.37 per cent in the final phase of the PRI elections.
DC Rahul Kumar said the highest polling percentage of 82.17 per cent was recorded in Shri Naina Devi Ji development block, while Ghumarwin block registered the lowest turnout at 74.68 per cent.
Bilaspur Sadar block recorded a turnout of 78.01 per cent, while Jhandutta block registered 75.28 per cent polling.
The DC said counting of votes for gram panchayat bodies had commenced and results would be declared on Saturday. Counting for Zila Parishad and Block Development Committee seats is scheduled to be held on Sunday at designated counting centres.
