Sundernagar, Nihri blocks register highest polling percentage in Mandi

According to preliminary figures, women voters once again outnumbered men in participation, registering a turnout of 85.85 per cent compared to 78.34 per cent among male voters.

Among the development blocks, Sundernagar and Nihri recorded the highest turnout at 84.40 per cent each, followed closely by Churag at 84.26 per cent. Karsog registered a turnout of 82.86 per cent, while Gopalpur recorded 75.49 per cent.

Jogindernagar reported the lowest turnout among the listed blocks, with 71.33 per cent of eligible voters exercising their franchise.

Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur cast his vote in his native Gram Panchayat Murhag under the Seraj Assembly constituency. His participation highlighted the significance of grassroots democratic institutions and encouraged voter engagement in the electoral process.

Election authorities said polling remained peaceful across the district and no major untoward incident was reported during the voting process.

Officials added that the turnout figures were provisional and the final polling percentage would be released after compilation of data from all polling stations and blocks.

The strong voter participation, particularly among women, reflected sustained public interest in local self-governance and grassroots democracy, with voters electing representatives for various Panchayati Raj institutions across the district.
