The MoU was signed by CUHP Vice-Chancellor Prof Sat Prakash Bansal and MGCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Sanjay Srivastava. The agreement aims to strengthen academic collaboration, promote quality research and improve the global ranking of both institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Bansal said that “quality of research” and “quality of journals” are among the most crucial parameters for securing a strong position in global university rankings. He said both universities would work jointly to achieve these standards through collaborative academic and research initiatives.
Under the agreement, faculty and student exchange programmes between the two central universities will be promoted in line with the objectives of the NEP. Teachers from both institutions will be able to serve as joint supervisors in emerging and specialised subjects, helping improve the quality of research guidance and academic exposure.
The MoU will also pave the way for joint research projects involving students and researchers from both states. These collaborative projects are expected to encourage knowledge exchange and strengthen expertise in core academic disciplines.
Prof Bansal said the partnership would function without any immediate financial liability for either institution. However, if any future project requires financial transactions or external funding, a separate legal agreement would be signed accordingly.
The five-year agreement also includes plans to jointly organise national and international conferences, seminars and workshops. In addition, both universities will share academic resources such as books, research journals and digital learning materials available in their libraries.
The agreement also lays emphasis on data protection, intellectual property rights (IPR) and confidentiality, ensuring that all collaborative work adheres to legal and ethical standards.
The university authorities described the MoU as an important initiative towards building stronger academic networks among central universities and promoting excellence in higher education and research in the country.
