After enduring unusually hot weather and heatwave conditions over the past few days, residents breathed a sigh of relief as temperatures dropped sharply. Bhuntar recorded the steepest fall in maximum temperature at 11.7°C, while Shimla witnessed a decline of 5.5°C.
The state capital had been reeling under intense heat, with maximum temperatures touching 30.5°C over the past two days. Minimum temperatures had also remained above 20°C, nearly 5°C higher than normal for this time of the year.

According to weather data, the average maximum temperature in Shimla between May 21 and 25 is 25.4°C, while the average minimum temperature is 15.9°C. Following Friday’s rainfall and cloudy conditions, temperatures in the city returned to near-normal levels. The month began on an unusually cool note. During the first week of May, both maximum and minimum temperatures remained significantly below long-term averages.
