Missing Delhi tourist found dead in Himachals Malana

The deceased has been identified as Mohit Chaudhary, a resident of Sadar Bazar, Delhi Cantt.

According to police, Mohit had arrived in Malana on May 7 along with a group of friends, and was staying at a café in Beiching Valley.

On May 10, Mohit told his friends he was stepping out to collect some belongings.

When he failed to return hours later, his friends began searching for him. His mobile phone was found switched off, and after exhausting all efforts, they alerted Manikaran police.

The police launched a search operation with the help of locals. On Thursday, a woman from the village spotted the body in a nullah, roughly 15 minutes away from the hotel where the group had been staying.

Preliminary examination revealed injury marks on the youth’s face, arms and other parts of the body. While police suspect that Mohit may have died after falling into a deep ravine or nullah, the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem report.

The body has been sent to the Regional Hospital in Kullu for autopsy. Mohit’s brother and three other relatives have arrived from Delhi and will receive the body after the procedure.

Kullu Superintendent of Police Madan Lal Kaushal confirmed that the matter is being investigated from all angles. He also appealed to tourists to remain in touch with their companions during travel and immediately report any emergency to the police.
