Pangi Divisional Forest Officer Ravi Guleria said that the Range Officer, Purthi, had been appointed the inquiry officer and directed to submit a report within 15 days. The field staff, including the Range Forest Officer of the area, Forest Guard, Van Mitra and workers, had been issued show-cause notices.
Back-to-back incidents of illegal felling of trees had made local residents concerned. Earlier, the forest mafia had illegally felled seven or eight green deodar trees in Chauri forest of the Sach range this month. A probe is underway in that case as well.
