The initiative aims to promote the holistic development of border villages while fostering national integration and a spirit of nation-building among the youth.

The details were shared by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Shikha during a review meeting held to assess preparations for the programme. Chairing the meeting, she directed officials concerned of all departments to ensure seamless coordination and successful implementation of the event.

According to the ADM, participants will represent Bihar, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. The programme will offer them an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the social, cultural and developmental realities of India’s border regions.

The initiative will be conducted in two phases and will involve visits to 10 identified border villages in the Spiti region. The villages selected for the programme are Kaza Khas, Kaza Soma, Hal, Shego, Kibber, Rama Khas, Lalung, Hurling, Gyu and Lirit.

Participants will be divided into groups of five and assigned to these villages, where they will interact with local communities and gain insights into rural life, traditional practices and ongoing development initiatives.

The programme is being organised jointly by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Ministry of Home Affairs. It is being implemented with the support of MY Bharat Himachal Pradesh, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the district administration.

Officials said the initiative seeks to strengthen the connection between young citizens and India’s strategically important border areas. By exposing participants to the unique opportunities and challenges of these regions, the programme aims to enhance awareness, encourage national integration and promote youth participation in the country’s development process.

The event is also expected to serve as a platform for cultural exchange, enabling participants to experience the rich heritage, traditions and lifestyle of Spiti valley while showcasing the diversity of different regions of the country.
