According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday at a Rohru market near the Shikri bridge, where Suraj works as a porter. Govind, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, confronted Suraj and stabbed him in the chest and waist before fleeing the scene.
A police team rushed to the spot, collected forensic evidence, and shifted the severely injured victim to the Civil Hospital in Rohru. Suraj was later referred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) in Shimla for advanced treatment.
Following a swift manhunt, the police apprehended the accused. Shimla SSP Gaurav Singh stated that a case had been registered against Govind under Sections 126(2), 118(1) and 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Further investigation was underway, he said.
