2 Bihar residents arrested for being involved in drug trafficking network in Shimla

The accused have been identified as Vishal Yadav (20) and Jai Prakash (27), both residents of Hardiya village in Bhojpur district, Bihar.

According to the police, their involvement in the network came to light after a person named Avinash Chauhan was arrested with 6.7 grams of chitta (heroin), from the Boileauganj area here on February 23, 2026.

The police had then initiated an investigation after registering a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

During the investigation, the police thoroughly interrogated the accused, besides analysing digital and financial evidence.

It was found that Avinash was transferring money into several bank accounts of Vishal, thus unearthing his involvement in the network.

Analysis of the bank accounts of Vishal revealed that transactions worth around Rs 40 lakh had taken place in a span of five months and cash withdrawals were made from various accounts almost daily.

A police team was then dispatched to Bihar and they were arrested from their village. The accused have now been brought here after attaining transit remand from the local court in Bihar.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla, Gaurav Singh confirmed the report and said further investigation is going on.
