हिमाचल के बड्डी में 16 वर्षीय चंडीगढ़ के लड़के की नहर में डूबने से मौत

Saurabh, along with a friend, had gone to the Nawan Nagar Khad on a motorcycle. In the afternoon, they decided to take a bath but Saurabh dived into the deep waters of the stream and started drowning.

Saurabh’s friend tried to save him but failed to pull him out of the khad having a strong current. He returned to Mohali in panic and called the emergency service-112 and also informed the police. On receiving information, a Barotiwala police team reached the spot and started a search operation with the help of local residents but could not locate Saurabh till Tuesday evening.

An NDRF team reached the spot on Wednesday morning and accelerated the search operation with the help of technical resources and recovered the body of the teenager after a few hours of strenuous efforts. Saurabh had reportedly passed Class X recently and had come here to hang out with a friend but the outing proved fatal.

Angry local villagers stated that several persons had drowned in the Nawan Nagar Khad in the past but the administration had neither placed warning boards nor made security arrangements there. A large number of people throng the place during the summer but monitoring by the administration was largely amiss. Additional SP, Baddi, Ashok Verma said that the police were taking the necessary legal action.
