In the first incident, three individuals, including two Haryana and one Punjab resident, were arrested with 9 grams of chitta (heroin) from Theog in Shimla district.
The accused were identified as Nitish Pandey (26), a resident of Jagatpur in SAS Nagar, Punjab, Pawan (21), a resident of Chirana village in Sonepat district, Haryana, and Hritik Surajbhan (27), a resident of Silana village in Sonepat, Haryana.
According to the police, a tip-off was received on Sunday that several individuals, who were on their way to Theog from Shimla in a vehicle, were carrying heroin, following which they were stopped for checking near Theog bypass. During checking, the police recovered heroin from their possession after which they were arrested. A case under Sections 21 and 29 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, was registered against the accused at the Theog police station and a probe initiated into the matter.
In the second incident, two individuals were arrested with 4.28 g chitta (heroin) from a hotel near Dhalli in Shimla. The accused were identified as Shakeel Bakshinta (30), a resident of Reyoghat village in Kotkhai, Shimla district, and Pradeep Kumar, alias Pinky (45), a resident of Kamlanagar village in Bhattakufar, Shimla district.
Shimla Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Singh said cases under the NDPS Act were registered against the accused. He said further investigations were in progress in this connection.
