The minister formally declared the fair closed by lowering the ceremonial flag at the Padhar fairground. Earlier, he participated in a traditional Jaleb procession of local deities, which began after rituals at the Jal Shakti Rest House in Dalah, reflecting the region’s rich dev culture.

On the occasion, Dharmani also inaugurated a newly constructed administrative building at ITI-Padhar, built at an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore.

Addressing the gathering, he extended greetings to the people of the state and said fairs and festivals played a vital role in preserving traditional culture and lifestyle. Such events, he noted, strengthened social harmony and infused communities with renewed energy, enthusiasm and unity.

Describing the Padhar farmers’ fair as a symbol of the region’s cultural heritage, the minister said the congregation of local deities during the event reinforced age-old traditions and promoted communal harmony.

Highlighting government initiatives, he said the introduction of the CBSE curriculum in more than 150 government schools was a significant step towards improving educational standards in the state. He expressed confidence that it would lead to meaningful reforms.

On the agricultural front, Dharmani said the recent increase in the support price of milk announced in the state Budget would benefit farmers and strengthen the rural economy.

Former minister Kaul Singh Thakur welcomed the chief guest and appreciated the government’s efforts towards public welfare.

Prizes were distributed to school students who participated in various competitions held during the fair, including volleyball, kabaddi, badminton, tug-of-war, matka breaking, musical chairs and cultural performances.

Padhar SDM and Fair Committee Chairman Surjit Singh presented an overview of the event and thanked all stakeholders for its successful organisation. He said three cultural evenings were organised, providing a platform for local artistes and showcasing regional traditions.

A souvenir of the fair, prepared by senior writer and editor Tilak Raj Gautam, was also released on the occasion.

The successful organisation of the fair once again underscored its role in preserving cultural heritage while promoting community participation and rural development.
