धर्मशाला में रुमानियत के दौरान उर्दू शायरी ने मोह लिया

The iconic Dharamsala college auditorium witnessed an extraordinary gathering as eight world-renowned poets—Shariq Kaifi, Azhar Iqbal, Sujit Haasil, Madhav Noor, Aleena Itrat, Poonam Meera, Abbas Qamar and Himanshi Babra—casted a spell on the audience with their verses. The highlight of the evening was the soul-stirring performance of the Ghazal queen, Gayatri Asokan, whose captivating voice left the audience yearning for more.

Rehbar, the organiser of Rumaaniyat, transformed the auditorium into a breathtaking artistic haven. Soothing fragrances, soft candlelight, delicately placed lamps and a magnificent LED backdrop turned the venue into an immersive poetic sanctuary. The event—free for all and complete with refreshments—set a new benchmark for cultural gatherings in the region.

Spearheading this non-profit initiative are Sujit Sahgal Haasil, a retired Singapore-based investment banker and writer, and his wife Veena, whose vision is to bring the finest poets and artistes to the valley while nurturing new writers and young audiences. Students from Dharamsala Degree College, NIFT Kangra and the Central University added intellectual vibrancy to the event through their active participation.

With such overwhelming response, Rumaaniyat has firmly established itself as an annual cultural treasure that Dharamsala now proudly awaits.
