The meeting granted approval to the annual action plans for both Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts. Several developmental and eco-tourism agendas were discussed in detail. Key proposals deliberated upon included the operation of a water pond at Mohal, outsourcing kitchen, housekeeping and dining hall services for the Forest Rest Houses at Ishad and Jana, as well as for the Gang Hut at Solang Nala.

Discussions were held on promoting adventure activities near the dumping site in the Manali area, operating an ATV track from Solang Nala to Anjani Mahadev, developing a camping site at hotel Chandertaal in Manali and fixing user charges for rafting activities at Jarad Vihar and Van Vihar.

Deputy Commissioner Anurag Chander Sharma suggested development of a comprehensive mountain trail development plan.

The plan aims to develop the district’s various trekking routes in an organised, safe and environment friendly manner. Special emphasis will be placed on identifying trails, providing basic infrastructure like signage and safety measures and ensuring the active participation of local communities.

The chairman stated that eco-tourism will not only ensure the conservation of natural resources but also take concrete steps towards sustainable development by empowering local communities. All members present stressed the importance of implementing the proposed plans in a time-bound manner.
