Shashwat Sachdev opens up about the phenomenal success of Dhurandhar's music, his long-standing collaboration with filmmaker Aditya Dhar, and his humble take on awards. The composer recently won Best Background Score for the film at the Chetak SCREEN Awards.

Shashwat Sachdev, the composer behind the blockbuster film Dhurandhar, has become one of the most talked-about names in the Indian music industry. Months after the film's release, its songs continue to dominate charts, and Sachdev's work is being hailed as a phenomenon. In a recent interview, he reflected on his creative journey and his partnership with filmmaker Aditya Dhar.

Aditya Dhar's Passion and Clarity

Sachdev praised Dhar's unwavering dedication, saying, "The biggest thing I rediscovered was his passion. As projects become larger, sometimes the scale can hide the human being behind them. During Dhurandhar, I got to witness the same hunger, intensity and emotional investment that probably drove him when he was just starting out." He recalled their first meeting in 2016, noting Dhar's remarkable clarity and conviction even then.

Learning About the Two-Part Release

When asked about the decision to split Dhurandhar into two parts, Sachdev expressed excitement. "I learnt about it around the beginning of October and I was genuinely excited. Certain stories grow beyond their original boundaries. If the story deserved more room to breathe, then that was something to celebrate," he said.

On National Awards and Recognition

Addressing speculation about a potential National Award for Dhurandhar or Article 370, Sachdev emphasized that awards are not his motivation. "Awards are wonderful because they acknowledge the work, but they can never be the reason for doing it. My focus has always been on creating work that remains meaningful long after the release date," he stated. He added that he is grateful for the audience's embrace of his music.
