The first stage musical adaptation ran in Tokyo's Theater H from November 7 to 16, 2023. The original manga was launched by Mochizuki in Square Enix's Monthly GFantasy magazine in 2006 and concluded in 2015 with 24 volumes. Yen Press publishes the manga in English, describing the story as a dark fantasy about a boy named Oz who is thrown into an abyss and makes a contract with a mysterious girl named Alice.
Anime and Other Adaptations
The manga inspired a 25-episode anime adaptation by Xebec, which premiered in 2009. Yen Press also releases Mochizuki's other works, including The Case Study of Vanitas and the side story novel Pandora Hearts: Caucus Race, for North America. Mochizuki launched The Case Study of Vanitas in Square Enix's Monthly GFantasy in December 2015, with the 11th volume published in April 2024. Yen Press has been simultaneously publishing the manga in English since its debut. The television anime adaptation of The Case Study of Vanitas aired in July 2021, with its second part in January 2022. Funimation streamed the first part and also produced an English dub. Crunchyroll streamed the second part as it aired and later added the first part.
