The student had appeared for the DLEd exam in Jogindernagar two days prior to the incident. Her father, Prakash, stated that she had been under stress since the exam. On the night of Thursday, June 19, 2026, she consumed a poisonous substance. When her condition deteriorated, family members rushed her to Jogindernagar hospital late at night. After initial treatment, doctors referred her to Tanda due to lack of improvement.

Police Investigation

Jogindernagar police have recorded statements from the family at the hospital. The student's statement could not be taken due to her critical condition. Superintendent of Police Mandi, Vinod Kumar, said that the investigation is ongoing as per rules.

In a separate incident, a 40-year-old man's health deteriorated after a drug overdose. He was given first aid at Nagrik Hospital Jogindernagar and then referred to Tanda. Additionally, 50-year-old Shubhkaran from Mohanghati suddenly lost consciousness and was brought to Jogindernagar hospital, where after primary treatment, he was also referred to Tanda. Dr. Vikas Nath, SMO of Nagrik Hospital Jogindernagar, confirmed that three serious patients were sent to Tanda Medical College Hospital for better treatment from late Thursday night to Friday morning.
