Rain and Its Impact Across Districts

Shimla

In Shimla, heavy rain on Friday night triggered a landslide in the Bhotwel area of Sanjauli, endangering four houses and two shops. The landslide occurred around 4 am, causing panic among locals. In New Shimla and other parts of the city, falling debris damaged several vehicles. On Saturday, light clouds prevailed until 3 pm, followed by rain until 5 pm, after which the weather turned pleasant.

Kullu

Heavy rain late Friday night raised the water level of the Pin Parvati River. The river's overflow entered two houses in the Shakti area, prompting the administration to evacuate them as a precaution. More than four culverts connecting Shakti, Maraud, and Shugad villages were washed away due to the rain and strong currents. The district still has 51 closed roads, affecting connectivity to several rural areas.

Sirmour

Sirmour district was among the worst affected by rain and landslides. Fifty roads remained closed, and 25 electrical transformers were impacted, disrupting power supply in many areas. Fifty-eight drinking water schemes and six irrigation schemes were also affected. Crops including potatoes, ginger, and oilseeds suffered damage.

Kangra

Cloudy skies prevailed throughout Saturday in Kangra district. Dharamshala and surrounding areas experienced dense fog in the evening, reducing visibility.

Chamba

No rain occurred in Chamba district on Saturday, leading to humidity throughout the day. A landslide near Batti Di Hatti on the Bharmour-Pathankot National Highway disrupted traffic for about 15 minutes before machinery cleared the route.

Hamirpur and Una

Sunshine returned to Hamirpur and Una, causing heat and humidity. Temperatures in Una, Mandi, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur districts exceeded 30°C on Saturday.

Yellow Alert for Five Districts on Sunday

The Meteorological Center Shimla has issued a yellow alert for rain in parts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Mandi districts on Sunday, July 12. Light to moderate rain is expected to continue in many parts of the state until July 17.
