Key Facts

In a decisive action against illegal occupation, the Hamirpur district administration on Tuesday conducted a major eviction drive on enemy property in Maudaha town. The operation targeted a 10-bigha plot on Kapasa Road, near the Hameed Shaheed Baba shrine, which had been encroached upon by two individuals.

Details of the Operation

The encroachers, identified as Naimuddin and Rana Parveen, had illegally occupied the land for an extended period. Acting on government directives, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karanveer Singh led a joint team from the revenue department and local police to clear the property. Using bulldozers, the administration removed all encroachments and formally took possession of the land, declaring it government property.

The operation was carried out smoothly with heavy police deployment to maintain law and order. Present at the site were Circle Officer (CO) Rajkumar Pandey, in-charge Tehsildar Mahendra Gupta, Kanungo, Lekhpal Avanish Kumar, and Kotwali police personnel.

Official Statement

SDM Karanveer Singh stated, “As per government instructions, the campaign to identify enemy properties and free them from encroachment is ongoing. Illegal encroachment on government land will not be tolerated.” He emphasized that the administration is committed to reclaiming all such assets and ensuring they are used for public benefit.

Impact and Significance

This eviction is part of a broader statewide drive to identify and secure enemy properties—assets left behind by individuals who migrated to Pakistan or China after the 1965 and 1971 wars. The reclaimed land will now be utilized for developmental purposes as per government policy. The action sends a strong message against illegal occupation of government land and reinforces the rule of law.

What Readers Should Know

  • The eviction was carried out under the Enemy Property Act, which vests such properties with the central government.
  • Similar drives are being planned across other districts in Himachal Pradesh.
  • Citizens are encouraged to report any encroachments on government or enemy properties to local authorities.
