The Directorate of General Education (DGE) has released the first allotment for single-window Plus One higher secondary admissions for the 2026-27 academic year. A total of 4,44,772 applications were processed against 3,15,874 general seats. With additional mandatory allocations for differently-abled students, the total available seats rise to 3,17,902.

Allotment Details

In the first round, 2,46,638 seats were allotted, leaving 71,264 vacancies across various quotas and community reservations. The demand-supply gap is particularly acute in northern districts, especially Malappuram.

District-wise Breakdown

  • Malappuram: Highest applications (82,753); 40,554 seats allotted; 17,301 vacancies; 42,199 students await second allotment. General merit quota fully exhausted (26,844 seats).
  • Kannur: 8,176 vacancies.
  • Kozhikode: 7,799 vacancies.

Admission Process

Student admissions based on the first allotment will commence from 10 a.m. on Monday (April 7) and continue until 5 p.m. on Wednesday (April 9). Those who receive their first option are advised to pay the fee and take permanent admission. Students allotted other options can take permanent or temporary admission; no fee is required for temporary admission.

Important Warning

The DGE has cautioned that any candidate who fails to secure at least a temporary admission after receiving an allotment will be permanently excluded from all subsequent allotment phases.
