Key Facts

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged large-scale irregularities in the recruitment of teachers through district selection committees (DSC) in 2025. Speaking at his Tadepalli camp office, he claimed the process was marred by corruption, including question paper leaks and manipulation of the sports quota.

Details of Allegations

Jagan alleged that the state government sidelined the DSC convener and entrusted both question paper preparation and examination management to the SCERT director, concentrating power in one authority. He claimed the question paper was leaked to select candidates, who secured jobs unfairly. “Lakhs of aspirants worked hard for the 16,000 posts, but the process was filled with irregularities. The posts were up for sale,” he said.

He further accused the Chandrababu Naidu government of misusing the sports quota by issuing government orders that allowed candidates to get jobs without writing the qualifying exam. “Participation certificates were given by TDP MLAs and MPs, certifying that they participated in college, university, and district-level competitions and secured jobs,” Jagan alleged. He added that 270 persons got jobs in sports quota without writing the exam, while genuine sportspersons, including a National Games gold medallist, were denied jobs.

Government’s Response

Reacting to the allegations, Andhra Pradesh School Education Secretary Kona Sasidhar defended the recruitment process, stating it was conducted transparently and fairly. He rejected claims of question paper leakage, noting that exams were conducted through TCS iON, a trusted computer-based testing platform. “Different question papers were generated for different examination sessions through a randomised question bank system comprising nearly 42,000 questions prepared under strict confidentiality by subject experts. So, there is no question of leakage,” he said.

Sasidhar also clarified that the sports quota recruitment was independent and transparent, with no irregularities established. The process included horizontal reservations for women, persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen, and meritorious sportspersons, along with SC sub-classification for the first time.

Impact and What Readers Should Know

The demand for a CBI probe highlights ongoing political tensions in Andhra Pradesh over recruitment transparency. If investigated, the case could reveal systemic flaws in the state’s hiring processes. Aspirants and citizens should monitor official updates from the CBI and state education department for further developments.
