In such conditions, scab and other fungal diseases can spread rapidly. Due to high moisture, there is increased possibility of spots on fruits, rotting, and premature fruit fall, which could cause financial loss to farmers,” he said.
Other growers—Panna Lal, Sunder Singh, Purn Chand, and Kripa Ram—echoed these fears. They noted that earlier this year, weather uncertainty had already created confusion regarding production. “Now continuous rains have increased our worries. If the weather does not clear soon, both production and fruit quality will be affected, which could dampen hopes of getting better prices in the market,” they said.
