Landslide Threat in Shimla
In the state capital Shimla, continuous rain has caused multiple landslides. A major landslide occurred early Saturday around 4:00 AM near Sanjauli College in the Bhothel area, endangering several houses. The debris flow damaged the road beneath, cutting off access to residential buildings. Locals report that three to four houses are at immediate risk. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as most residents were asleep at the time. However, panic has gripped the area. Residents have been trying to contact local councillors, MLAs, and the mayor since morning, but claim no one has responded or arrived for assistance. They have urged the administration to provide immediate relief and safety measures.
This is not the first time the area has witnessed such a disaster. On June 28, 2025, a severe landslide at the same spot had sent boulders and debris crashing into homes, trapping women and children. The recurrence has heightened fear among locals.
