The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the result of the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026. A total of 2,526 candidates have qualified for the Personality Test, the interview stage of the examination.

The result was declared on 5 November 2026. The written Mains examination was held from 21 to 30 August 2026. A total of 13,343 candidates had qualified in the Preliminary Examination and appeared for the Mains — about 18.9% of them have now been shortlisted for the interview.

How to check the result

The result is published as a name-wise and roll-number-wise PDF on the UPSC website, upsc.gov.in, in the Written Results section. No login is needed to download it. The PDF lists only the roll numbers of qualified candidates — it does not state individual marks or cut-off scores.

The examination is being conducted against an estimated 933 vacancies, as per the original UPSC notification, subject to change.

Next step: online form by 25 November

Every qualified candidate must fill in or update their details in the online application form at upsconline.nic.in between 11 November and 6:00 PM on 25 November 2026. The form must be finally submitted even if nothing has changed — without it, the candidate will not get an interview call letter.

The interview e-Summon letter will be posted on the UPSC website once the schedule and board allocation are announced. No paper summon letters will be sent by post.

The interview

The Personality Test carries 275 marks. Interviews will be held at the UPSC office at Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi. The interview dates have not been announced in the 5 November result notice — UPSC will publish the schedule separately.

Qualifying for the interview does not mean final selection. The final ranking is based on the marks in the written papers counted for merit plus the interview. The final result is expected around March–April 2027.

Mark sheets of all candidates will be uploaded on the UPSC website within 15 days of the declaration of the final result, and will stay online for 30 days. Until then, any cut-off marks circulating online are unofficial estimates, not authoritative figures.
