The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the dates for the Class 10 and 12 Practical Exams and Project Assessment for 2027.

Practical exams and internal assessment for regular schools in India and abroad will begin on 1 January 2027. For winter-bound schools, which close in January because of extreme cold, the practical exams will be held earlier, from 9 November to 19 December 2026.

The theory date sheet is not out yet

CBSE has not released the theory date sheet for Class 10 and 12, and has not announced when it will come. It will be published on cbse.gov.in and cbseacademic.nic.in. Students should trust only those official websites. PDFs of subject-wise dates circulating on WhatsApp are not official until they appear on cbse.gov.in.

Based on last year’s pattern, the theory exams are expected in February and March 2027 — the first paper of the 2026 exams was on 17 February 2026. That is an expectation, not an announcement.

Why the date sheet is late this year

Unlike last year, CBSE has not issued a tentative date sheet this year. On 24 September 2025, it had issued tentative date sheets for the 2026 exams, almost five months before the first paper. This year the board is finishing the step that comes first: the List of Candidates (LOC), the data schools submit for every student who will sit the exams. The final date sheet comes after the final list of candidates.

Check your details by 7 November

CBSE has opened a correction window for the List of Candidates from 2 to 7 November 2026. Schools can correct a student’s name, parents’ names, date of birth or subjects in this window. CBSE says no correction will be made after this window closes.

Only schools can make the corrections, not students or parents directly. Parents should ask their child’s school to show them the data verification slip and check that every detail is correct, because no subject change will be accepted after 7 November.

Class 10 has two board exams

CBSE now holds two board exams for Class 10. The list of candidates being corrected now is for the first exam, in February and March 2027. The second exam, in May, is an optional improvement exam in up to three subjects, and its list is filled in after the first exam is over.
