PV Sindhu has qualified for the BWF World Tour Finals 2026, the Badminton World Federation confirmed on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.

The season-ending tournament will be held in Hangzhou, China, from 9 to 13 December 2026. This will be Sindhu’s sixth appearance at the Finals, and her first since 2021.

How she qualified

Sindhu sealed her place by winning the Hylo Open, a Super 500 tournament in Germany. She beat Denmark’s Line Kjaersfeldt 21-12, 21-14 in the final in 39 minutes, to win her second title of the season.

The Hylo Open title added 9,200 ranking points to her tally and lifted her two places to world No. 6 in the latest BWF World Rankings — her highest ranking since December 2022.

It was her second BWF World Tour title of the season, after the Japan Open Super 750 in July, which was her first individual title since December 2024.

A tournament she has won before

Sindhu is the only Indian ever to win the BWF World Tour Finals. She won the title in 2018, beating Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the final.

The Finals invite the top eight players in each category. Five women’s singles spots are confirmed so far. Joining Sindhu are An Se-young of South Korea, Akane Yamaguchi of Japan, and Wang Zhi Yi and Chen Yu Fei of China. Three spots are still open, and the remaining qualification spots will be decided after the 24 November cut-off.

Resting before Hangzhou

After her Hylo Open title run, Sindhu decided to skip the Korea Open and Japan Masters to rest and get fit for the World Tour Finals. She is likely to be in action next at the Syed Modi International, starting 24 November in Lucknow.
