Apple says there are now well over 100,000 apps built for the iPhone Duo live on the App Store, just two weeks after its first foldable phone went on sale. The company announced the milestone on Friday, 6 November 2026, with thousands more optimised apps being added every day.

The figure comes from Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, in a statement to 9to5Mac. It is a sharp turnaround from the early reviews of the Duo, which criticised the lack of apps designed for the foldable’s larger screen at launch.

What “built for Duo” means

Apps counted in the figure are built using the iOS 27.1 software development kit or later. They fill both the 7.6-inch inner display and the 5.4-inch outer screen without letterboxing or black bars. Apple says the inner display is 50 percent larger than the screen of the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Apps that have not been updated still run on the Duo, but with a black bar along one side of the display, and some controls can end up hidden in overflow menus. TechCrunch noted that Spotify, for example, was still showing the black bar on its review unit, with no updated version yet listed in the App Store.

Optimised apps get a “Made for iPhone Duo” badge on their App Store product pages, and Apple is promoting them in editorial collections such as “Popular Apps on iPhone Duo” and “Great Games on iPhone Duo”.

Which apps are ready

The announcement was timed with the release of more than a dozen notable Duo-ready apps, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, Zoom, the NBA and NHL apps, shopping apps Etsy and LTK, productivity apps Goodnotes and Extra, and the Halide Mark III camera app.

These join Duo-optimised apps already available, including Netflix, YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp, Amazon Prime Video, Fantastical and Flighty. Apple said thousands of developers have joined workshops in 19 cities around the world in the past month, and more than 2,000 developers have attended over 50 in-person sessions.

For comparison, when the Vision Pro headset went on sale in February 2024, Apple counted just over 600 apps built for it.

The phone itself is still hard to buy

The iPhone Duo went on sale on 23 October 2026, starting at 1,999 dollars for the 256GB model. It sold out within hours of orders opening, and shipping times have now slipped into next year. On its earnings call this week, Apple said it is “hard to predict” when the supply constraints behind the delays will improve.
