India take a 1–0 lead into the second ODI against New Zealand at the HNRY Stadium (Sky Stadium) in Wellington on Saturday, 7 November 2026. The match starts at 3 PM local time, which is 7:30 AM IST.
New Zealand have lost opener Devon Conway for the rest of the five-match ODI series, and rain is forecast for Saturday afternoon in Wellington.
Conway ruled out with concussion
New Zealand opener Devon Conway has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series with a concussion. He suffered the injury during a training session at Eden Park on 3 November, when he collided with fast bowler Matt Henry while attempting a catch. Conway was taken to a hospital accident and emergency department, where a concussion was confirmed.
New Zealand Cricket announced on 6 November that Conway will miss the remaining four ODIs. The aim is to have him fit for the first Test, which starts in Wellington on 19 November.
Left-handed batter Nick Kelly has been called up from the New Zealand A squad and will join the senior team in Wellington on 6 November. Kelly was originally picked for the fourth and fifth ODIs.
There is better news for the hosts on Henry: the fast bowler has been cleared of concussion and is available for selection for the second ODI. New Zealand were already without Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman, both ruled out before the series began.
Rain could have a say
Showers are forecast for Wellington on Saturday afternoon, when the first innings will be under way. Training on 6 November was disrupted by persistent rain — New Zealand moved indoors and India cancelled their training session.
India: Siraj available, series in hand
India won the rain-hit first ODI in Auckland on 4 November by five wickets. New Zealand were bowled out for 185 in 40.2 overs, and India chased a revised target of 143 in 32 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, reaching it with 56 balls to spare. Virat Kohli made 74 off 51 balls.
Mohammed Siraj is available for selection after joining from India A, giving India a selection call to make in the pace attack.
The Wellington pitch is likely to assist the fast bowlers, so the batters will need to be patient early. India last won an ODI in Wellington in February 2019, by 35 runs.
The remaining ODI dates are 7 November in Wellington, 10 November in Hamilton, and 13 and 15 November in Mount Maunganui. The two-match Test series begins in Wellington on 19 November.
