Gold and silver prices fell on Dhanteras, Friday, 6 November 2026, giving some relief to buyers heading to jewellery shops for the festival. The fall came after a much stronger than expected US jobs report pushed up the dollar and US Treasury yields.

Delhi retail rates
Retail rates in Delhi on the morning of 7 November 2026, according to All India Bullion’s Zaveri Bazar reference rate:
- 24-carat gold: 1,46,578 rupees per 10 grams (14,658 rupees per gram); in Delhi, 1,46,778 rupees per 10 grams.
- 22-carat gold: 1,34,265 rupees per 10 grams (13,427 rupees per gram); in Delhi, 1,34,448 rupees per 10 grams.
- Silver (999 fine): 1,91,060 rupees per kilogram; in Delhi, 1,91,135 rupees per kilogram.
These are reference rates. A jewellery bill adds making charges and 3 percent GST on top, and rates vary from jeweller to jeweller. Other published Delhi rates for 24-carat gold on 6 November ranged from about ₹1,41,630 to ₹1,46,170 per 10 grams, so check with your jeweller before buying.
Why prices fell
The US added 165,000 jobs in October, far above the expected 65,000, and unemployment fell to 4.1 percent. The strong report lifted the dollar and pushed market pricing for a Federal Reserve rate increase in December to about 78 percent. Higher US interest rates and a stronger dollar usually pressure gold, because gold pays no interest.
The context
Gold had risen sharply before Dhanteras. On 4 November, Delhi gold was at 1,46,600 rupees per 10 grams and silver at 1,93,000 rupees per kilogram, and spot gold had crossed 4,100 dollars an ounce on 5 November. Friday’s fall was a pause in that rally, not a collapse, and jewellers still expected festive buying to stay strong on Dhanteras.
