The physical test for the Himachal Pradesh Police Constable recruitment 2026 is now under way across the state. The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) had fixed the Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test (PST and PET) for 22 October to 5 December 2026, through a press note dated 14 October 2026 (No. 4-8/2026-PSC (R-III)).
The recruitment is for 734 Constable posts in the Himachal Pradesh Police Department — 491 male and 243 female — advertised under Advertisement Nos. 57/7-2026 and 58/7-2026, dated 10 July 2026. The online application window closed on 5 September 2026.

Who was eligible
Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th) and 10+2 (Senior Secondary) from an institution or board situated within Himachal Pradesh. This condition does not apply to bonafide Himachalis. Age is calculated as on 1 January 2026.
Home Guards exempt from the physical efficiency test
In an important update, HPPSC issued an addendum on 22 October 2026 (No. 4-8/2026-PSC (R-III) Vol-I) recording the Himachal Pradesh Government’s decision to exempt Home Guards of Himachal Pradesh from the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) in this recruitment. The decision was conveyed by the Home Department’s letter dated 14 October 2026.
A separate offline application window was also given to left-out HP Home Guard candidates, with the last date of 31 October 2026 (5:00 PM).
What candidates should do now
Candidates who applied should check their HPPSC User ID for the e-call letter, which carries their exact physical test date and venue. The district-wise schedule is notified by the Police Department, and no postponement notice has been issued by HPPSC. Candidates should not trust any message claiming a written exam date — no such date has been announced officially. Always check hppsc.hp.gov.in for updates.
