Social Security payments for November 2026 follow the usual birthday-based schedule — with one change this month: the payment that would normally arrive on Wednesday, 11 November, moves a day earlier because 11 November is Veterans Day.

November 2026 payment dates

  • Tuesday, 3 November: people who began receiving benefits before May 1997, and people who receive both Social Security and SSI
  • Tuesday, 10 November: birth dates from the 1st to the 10th of the month — moved from Wednesday, 11 November, because of Veterans Day
  • Wednesday, 18 November: birth dates from the 11th to the 20th
  • Wednesday, 25 November: birth dates from the 21st to the 31st

Social Security benefits go to nearly 74 million people in the US. Payments are normally made on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month, based on the birth date of the worker whose record the benefit is paid on. When a payment date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, it moves to the business day before.

SSI recipients: no November cheque

People who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will not get a cheque in November. That is because 1 November falls on a Sunday this year, so the November SSI payment was sent early, on Friday, 30 October. The next SSI payment arrives on Tuesday, 1 December. An early payment is not an extra payment — it is the same November benefit, paid early.

Looking ahead

The 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2027 takes effect from January 2027, so December’s payments are the last ones at 2026 rates. Beneficiaries can check their exact payment dates through their my Social Security account or the Social Security Administration’s published payment calendar.
