The OnePlus 15R has started receiving its first big software upgrade. OnePlus is rolling out ColorOS 17, based on Android 17, to the phone in a staged update that began on 27 October 2026 — ahead of schedule.
What the update brings
- Android 17 with the new ColorOS 17 interface, replacing OxygenOS on OnePlus phones outside China
- OnePlus is rolling out the update in stages, so it may take a few days to reach every OnePlus 15R
- The 15R is among the first OnePlus phones to get the Android 17 update
The phone, in brief
- Launched in India: 17 December 2025, starting at Rs 47,999 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage
- Chip: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the same flagship-class chip as phones costing much more
- Battery: 7,400mAh, one of the biggest batteries in its price range
- Display: 6.83-inch AMOLED with a 165Hz refresh rate
- Durability: IP69K rating against dust and water
- Current price: listed at Rs 59,999 on Amazon as of 6 November 2026, though sale prices have dropped to around Rs 55,000 during festive sales
Should you buy it now?
At its launch price of Rs 47,999, the 15R was one of the best-value performance phones in India. At the current list price of Rs 59,999 it faces tougher competition — but with the Android 17 update arriving early and festive discounts bringing it down, it is worth checking the live price before deciding.
