Himachal Pradesh will stay completely dry until 9 November 2026, but rain and snowfall are likely on 10 and 11 November as a fresh Western Disturbance approaches the hills, according to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla.

The forecast

  • 5 to 9 November: dry weather across all 12 districts — Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti — with no rain or snowfall expected
  • 10 and 11 November: light rain and snowfall likely at scattered places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand as the Western Disturbance moves in
  • A Western Disturbance is an eastward-moving weather system that starts in the Mediterranean region and travels towards India

What travellers should know

  • Snowfall in Shimla or Manali town is not guaranteed in November — the more likely snow is on the higher reaches, such as the areas around Rohtang Pass
  • High-altitude roads can close at short notice after fresh snow, so check road status and the latest forecast before travelling
  • November is otherwise a good month for sightseeing, clear mountain views and quiet hill-station holidays, with cold mornings and sunny afternoons
  • The northern plains, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, are expected to stay largely dry in the same period
