Delhi woke up to severe air on the morning of 5 November 2026. The air quality was bad in many parts of the city, with several areas crossing the 400 mark. This is the third straight day of severe air in some areas, and the problem is worst in the Diwali week.
Readings change through the day and from station to station. Some early morning readings showed very high numbers, while later morning readings were also in the severe range. In short, the air is not safe for outdoor activity in many parts of Delhi today.
What the numbers show
Seven stations were above 400 in the morning readings. The figures included:
- Punjabi Bagh: 446
- Narela: 434
- Rohini: 431
- RK Puram: 416
- Bawana: 412
- North Campus (Delhi University): 408
- Patparganj: 405
Other readings in the morning showed even higher numbers at some stations, including Jahangirpuri 459, JNU 459, IIT Delhi 447 and DTU 436. Because the AQI changes through the day, one figure should not be taken as the whole-day reading for the whole city.
People in Delhi, especially children, elderly people, and people with asthma or breathing problems, should avoid long outdoor activity and wear a mask when going out.
