Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has sanctioned ₹18 crore for the construction of the Holi–Uttarala road in Chamba district.

The Chief Minister announced the sanction on Thursday, 5 November 2026, through a post on X from the Chief Minister’s Office. Posting in Hindi, he said: “होली-उतराला सड़क निर्माण के लिए 18 करोड़ रुपये स्वीकृत किए। इससे क्षेत्र के लोगों को आवागमन में सहूलियत होगी।” — “Sanctioned ₹18 crore for the construction of the Holi–Uttarala road. This will ease the movement of people in the area.”

A committee will also be formed

Along with the money, the Chief Minister announced the formation of a committee. The post indicated the committee would provide oversight for the project, but its exact subject was only partly referenced in the post, and no tender timeline or completion date has been announced. The road’s length has also not been stated.

Why this road matters

The Holi–Uttarala road connects two areas in the hilly interior of Chamba district, where every kilometre of motorable road means easier access to markets, hospitals and schools for communities that have long relied on difficult routes. Road works of this kind are executed by the Public Works Department.

Part of a wider Chamba push

The announcement came during the Chief Minister’s visit to Chamba district. On the same day, 5 November 2026, he also announced that essential health services would be made available to residents within Chamba district.

Earlier in the same visit, on 3 November, he inaugurated and laid the foundation for 36 development projects worth ₹419.90 crore in the Bhattiyat Assembly Constituency, covering drinking water, sewerage, flood protection and road connectivity.
