The second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly elections will be held on Tuesday, 11 November 2026, when 122 of the state’s 243 seats go to the polls across 20 districts. Counting of votes for both phases will take place on 14 November 2026.

The first phase covered 121 seats in 18 districts on 6 November 2026. The 243-member Assembly’s term ends on 22 November 2026.

Where voting happens

The 20 districts voting on 11 November are West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Nawada, Gaya, Aurangabad, Jahanabad, Arwal, Kaimur and Rohtas.

More than 45,399 polling stations have been set up for the second phase, of which 40,073 are in rural areas. Voting will begin at 7 AM.

Key contests to watch

Among the seats going to the polls on 11 November:

  • Supaul: JD(U) leader Bijendra Prasad Yadav is seeking an eighth term.
  • Gaya Town: BJP veteran Prem Kumar is seeking his eighth straight win since 1990.
  • Bettiah: BJP leader Renu Devi is in the fray.
  • Katihar: BJP leader Tarkishore Prasad is seeking a fifth term.
  • Jamui: BJP’s Shreyasi Singh, the former shooter, is contesting.
  • Kargahar: Jan Suraaj’s Ritesh Pandey, the Bhojpuri actor-singer, is in the fray.

There are also friendly fights among Mahagathbandhan allies in Chainpur, Narkatiaganj and Sultanganj, where alliance partners are contesting against each other.

The Seemanchal belt

The Seemanchal belt — Araria, Kishanganj and Supaul — is being watched closely. The AIMIM won five seats in this region in the 2020 Assembly elections, and its performance here could matter in a close contest.

What happens next

Campaigning for the second phase continues until the silence period begins. After voting on 11 November, all votes from both phases will be counted on 14 November 2026, and the results will decide who forms the next government in Bihar.

No turnout figure is available yet for either phase. The first phase’s turnout will be announced by the Election Commission after polling closes.
