A Maharashtra government high-level committee has recommended that the MPSC Group-C Services Combined Preliminary Exam 2026 offer more than 16,000 posts, up from the 5,000+ advertised — along with a one-time, one-year relaxation in the upper age limit.

What the panel recommended

  • Group-C posts rise from 5,000+ to over 16,000 through a corrigendum, adding 11,000+ departmental requisitions
  • A one-time, one-year relaxation in the upper age limit for recruitment exams — for advertisements after 1 January 2026 where selection has not started, and advertisements up to 31 December 2027
  • Reopening the Group-C application window once
  • About 12 lakh candidates have applied for the Group-C exam

Important: recommendations, not final orders

These are recommendations in an interim report submitted on 5 November 2026 by a committee headed by IAS officer V Radha (set up on 4 September 2026). They need Maharashtra government and MPSC approval before they take effect. Do not treat the 16,000+ posts or the age relaxation as final until the government or MPSC issues orders.
