The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam involves multiple stages, including written exams, proficiency/skill tests, and document verification. Here are the details of the selection process:

1. Mode of Selection

Minimum Qualifying Marks:

  • Tier-I, Section-I, Section-II & Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I of Tier-II & Paper-II of Tier-II:
    • UR: 30%
    • OBC/EWS: 25%
    • All other categories: 20%
  • Maximum Errors Allowed (Module-II of Section-III of Paper-I of Tier-II):
    • UR: 20%
    • OBC/EWS: 25%
    • All other categories: 30%

Candidates are shortlisted for Tier-II based on their Tier-I scores, with separate cut-offs for specific posts like Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade-II.

2. Examination Stages

Tier-II Examination:

  • Paper-I: All candidates
  • Paper-II: Only for Junior Statistical Officer/Statistical Investigator Grade-II

In Paper-I of Tier-II, candidates must qualify in all sections. Performance in Section-I and Section-II will determine eligibility for evaluation of Section-III.

Section-III of Paper-I of Tier-II: Qualifying in nature, includes:

  • Module-I: Computer Knowledge Test (Higher cut-off for posts requiring computer proficiency)
  • Module-II: DEST (Higher standards for specific posts)

3. Post Preferences and Final Selection

  • Preferences for various posts and departments are submitted online before the final result.
  • Once preferences are submitted, they cannot be changed.
  • Candidates who do not submit preferences will not be considered for any post.
  • Physical and medical standards apply to certain posts (e.g., Inspector, Sub-Inspector).
  • Merit lists are based on Tier-II performance and post preferences.

4. Merit List Criteria

  • Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Based on Section-I & Section-II of Paper-I and Paper-II of Tier-II.
  • Posts requiring DEST: Based on Section-I & Section-II of Paper-I of Tier-II, subject to qualifying DEST at higher standards.
  • Posts requiring Computer Proficiency: Based on Section-I & Section-II of Paper-I of Tier-II, subject to qualifying both modules of Section-III at higher standards.
  • All other posts: Based on Section-I & Section-II of Paper-I of Tier-II, subject to qualifying both modules of Section-III.

5. Final Selection

  • Selection is based on overall Tier-II performance and post preferences.
  • Once a post is allotted based on preference and merit, it cannot be changed.
  • SC, ST, OBC, EWS, ESM, and PwBD candidates who qualify without relaxed standards will be counted against unreserved vacancies. Those who qualify with relaxed standards will be counted against reserved vacancies.
  • Benchmark disability candidates selected on merit will be considered for unreserved vacancies if suitable.

6. Physical Standards for Different Posts

  • Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer) and Sub-Inspector (CBN):
    • Male: Height 157.5 cm, Chest 81 cm (minimum 5 cm expansion)
    • Female: Height 152 cm, Weight 48 kg
    • Physical Test: Walking and Cycling standards
  • Sub-Inspector in CBI:
    • Male: Height 165 cm, Chest 76 cm (expansion required)
    • Female: Height 150 cm
    • Vision: Distant and Near Vision standards
  • Sub-Inspector in NIA and Narcotics Control Bureau:
    • Height and Chest requirements similar to CBI
    • Vision standards similar to CBI

Candidates should ensure they meet these physical standards before opting for related posts.

Important Notes

  • Success in the exam does not guarantee appointment; suitability for service will be verified.
  • Candidates must meet all eligibility conditions; failure to do so will result in cancellation of their candidature.
  • Selected candidates may be required to serve anywhere in India.
  • Candidates who do not receive correspondence post-final selection should contact the concerned department within a year.

There will be no waiting or reserve list after the final result is declared. Ensure all preferences and requirements are carefully considered to avoid disqualification.
